Security-Military Changes of Central Asia and Caucasus and I.R. Iranʹs National Security.

Since the establishment of national government in Iran, one of the concerns of Iranʹs political system was the threats which have been arised from south Caucasus, Caspian Sea and Central Asia against the countrie ʹs territorial authority. Along with the description of security-military changes of these regions, this article tries to discuss the issue that after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the power balance at the northern border turned into Iranʹs favour, but it seems that after 9/11, and increasing the United Statesʹ military presence in the region, expanding of military and security cooperation between the United States and the countries in the region caused a new process in Iranʹs security area in the north and in case of itʹs continuous, Iranʹs national interests and security may be at risk. In this article, after a short introduction, security-military changes of each region - the Central Asia, Caspian Sea and Southern Caucasus - are explained and the impacts of these changes on I.R. Iranʹs national security are examined.
