The duty of clergymen in Ancient Iran

Clergymen have always been one of the fateful factors of the society and have had important positions in ancient Iran. They have been on the top of social classifications and have performed rituals and Hymns. Later on, when they became powerful, they fulfilled important role in the kingsʹ decisions and also gave they advice to them. In Avesta and Pahlavi, there are many subjects about the duty and importance of clergymen. The present research deals with the duty of clergymen in Ancient Iran. The introduction talks about the place of clergies according to Avesta and Pahlavi texts and also Iranology researches, then it goes on to explain clergy before Zoroaster and Zoroastrian priests and their duties.
