Non Voidness of Spectrum of Elements in Topological Algebras

The fact the spectrum of an element of a complex normed algebra is nonempty is a well knowntheorem. In this note we study this problem for a class of topological algebras andprovide the Gelfand homomorphism for commutative continuous inverse algebras.
