Site selection of elementary schools (application of AHP assessment Method and GIS)

The basic aim of urban planners is balancing in distribution of spatial resources and services in the cities. In planning, it is necessary to locate resources and facilities, suitable to distribute equilibrium services among different people. In this article, spatial distribution of elementary schools in first district one of Qom city is considered. GIS and models are utilized to study situation and location of schools. Regarding to the importance of network analysis and the role of GIS in urban network studies, its analytical abilities to do some common analysis, such as finding limitation of schools services. Thus, network analysis is employed. Index overlay is a model that is used in this research to locate proper places for building schools. Also, Analytic Hierarchy Process, is a model to identify weight of each layer, index overlay is used to locate proper places in which schools would be built. Under this model, proper and improper places for building elementary schools are located in district one of Qom city. Further, Network Analysis is integrated with index overlay. So, this integration offers a suitable and equilibrium distribution for locationing of schools.
