Research Limits on Karl Popperʹs Open Society.

This article deals with limits and failures in Popperʹs research project on the open seciety, by reviewing new recent theories. Popperʹs project is based on critical rationalism and his ideas have always been the most valid one in defence of open society and democracy. Popperʹs theories on philosophy of science and political philosophy have been continuously referred as the manifest of liberal democracy against its enemines. The author also argues that Popperʹs thoughts have been reproduced until recently through the new theories such as neo-falsificationism, post-structualism, hermenutics and etc. The author finally concludes that the Popperʹs emphasis on scientism and the problem of pluralism facing the cognitive basis in open society, shoud be regarded as major challenges in any approach to open society. Therefore, although the idea of open society has defended the liberalism and democracy from the danger of communist and fascist totalitarianism, but it also helps to the formation of closed society on the basis of the idea of liberalism and hampers the plural society on the basis of consensus.
