Analyzing the Effect of Factors on Sustainability of Agriculture and Indigenous Knowledge (IK) of Women Working in Paddy Field in Bandar-E- Anzali

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of factors on sustainable agriculture and IK among paddy field women in Bandar-E-Anzali. The research design in this study was a mixed-methodology (combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches). The population for quantitative phase consisted of rice-field women, over 25 years old. The population for qualitative phase included the highest experienced and expert paddy field women in each village. This population is used for collecting of rice-field IK by means of group interview. The instrument for collection of quantitative phase was questionnaire. The findingʹs qualitative and quantitative phases indicated that although Bandar-E-Anzaliʹs paddy field women who are facing a lot of problems in rice-fields, while they have potential ability in agricultural development because of their IK. However, paddy field women participation in rice-field is considerable and even in some case more than men. Also, there exists positive correlation (p=l%) between age, past record field-rice, the measure of rice production, field-rice annual income with observing sustainability criteria in agriculture. There is also negative correlation (p=l%) between rice field participation and number of household member in regard with agricultural sustainability.
