This experiment was conducted at the Ardebil Agricultural and Natural Research Station for three years to study the possibility of using true potato seed for obtaining promising hybrids with better agronomic, marketing and adaptation characteristic to the Ardebil region. During 2005, 2400 clones from true seeds of seven families (Granola, Ceaser, Roster, Cara, Bamba, T2999/4 and T2704/1) were selected and planted in 25><75cm pattern. 243 clones selected after evaluating some attributes such as agronomic characters on the basis of external attractiveness of tuber, yield of single plant, eye depth, tuber uniformity, tuber skin color, tuber number and tuber size, and selected in 2005 year. Selected clones planted in an augmented design during 2006. This experiment had 9 blocks each with 27 random clones and five control varieties (Agria, Granola, Ceaser, Sante and Kenebec). ANOVA for the characters studied showed that there were significant differences between total tuber yield, marketable tuber yield, tuber number and tuber weight per plant and then 24 clones selected after evaluation of the desired traits. Selected clones had 8.3-23.2 tuber numbers, 1578-2039 g. tuber weight per plant, and 84.2-108.7 ton/ha, total tuber yield, 79.7-105.8 ton/ha, marketable tuber yield, 39.25-64.25 cm plant height and 2-8 main stem numbers. These clones had suitable external attractiveness, uniformity, eye depth of tuber, yellow and red tuber skin colors and light or dark yellow flesh colors. Selected clones planted in non-replicated experiment and grouped by cluster analysis during 2007. Six clones selected from them after investigating for tuber yield, dry matter percent, tuber number and weight per plant, and mean tuber size. Selected clones belonged to Ceaser, Kara and Ruster family. The highest dry matter percent and tuber yield belonged to 20 and 23 clones. They were suitable for crisps producing. Clones 20 and 23 had 20.19 - 21.88 percent of dry matter and high tuber yield. They were suitable for french-frying. The clones 5 and 6 had lower dry matter and very high in tuber yield and are considered to be suitable for fresh potato consumption.
