Developing a model for efficiency and productivity growth in higher Education Centers

Higher education is introducer of specific kind of investment in human resources which provide the possibility of knowledge promotion, skill, and new attitudes of economic, social, and cultural development of the society. Higher education not only fosters the knowledge, but also develops research, technologic and scientific progress. Therefore, evaluation of its efficiency and growth in organizations in charge can be an important political goal which attained a specific position in economic and social studies. In this article, by using special techniques of mathematical planning called data envelopment analysis(DEA), technical efficiency and growth, using Malem Quest index for 15 big and very big unites of Azad University of Iran, Region 2, for the years of 80- 82 has been measured. The research findings show that the average efficiency of concerned universities, under condition of fixed scale return, were 86, 88, 95 for the years 80- 82 respectively. The attained results from Malem Quest index, during the said years, show that the total productivity of region 2 universities, improved to 7.5 averagely. In other words the efficiency of universities9 units were accompanied with positive growth in this term.
