Regarding intellectual property in world trade and its role in developing and earning more income for governments and small and medium enterprises, managing this kind of properties is a vital issue. Today through sharing investorʹs invisible properties, they have venture capital investment In addition, in our country IP is getting more and more important regarding Iran current situation and the need for purchasing and transferring technology and developing high-tech enterprises. In this paper, we deal with the recognizing and describing the importance of intellectual property in investment process and general methods of valuation of these kinds of properties. We go through three methods of IP valuation including cost-based method, market comparable method and cash flow method. Moreover, describe their strengths and weaknesses. In addition, we go through other minor methods like role of thumb, call option and .... We focus on value grid way, which is a market comparable method in valuating TIAXLLC intellectual property as a case study. In the end, we will see cash flow method would be most common method of valuation used by financial institution especially venture capital funds.
