Isolation, proliferation and differentiation of chicken bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells to osteocyte, chondrocyte and adipocyte lineages

There are no published studies on meseschymal stem cell from chicken bone marrow. In this study we have tried to isolate chicken bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and improve their ability for differentiation. The bone marrow of tibia were extracted for mesenchymal stem cells culturing. Cells differentiation to osteocytes, chondrocytes and adipocytes were reached with induction media. Following to differentiation, specific histochemical staining was done for histological analysis. The isolated cells indicated fibroblast-like morphology. Three weeks after induction, oil vacuoles in adipocytes, calcium precipitations in osteocytes, cartilage matrixe in chondrocytes performed which were stained with Oil Red 0. Alizarin Red S and Toluidien blue, respectively. These results suggested that chicken bone marrow isolated stem cells could be differentiated to osteocyte, chondrocyte and adipocyte lineages.
