Ethics in Research as a Discipline A Study of the Dimensions and Epistemic Identity of Ethics in Research

گستردگي پژوهش در محافل علمي و سازمان‌ها و آسيب‌پذيري اخلاقي پژوهش، نياز به مقوله اخلاق در پژوهش را نمايان مي‌سازد. مسيله مقاله حاضر جستجوي اضلاع معرفتي دانشي است كه بتواند مسايل اخلاقي پژوهش را در چارچوب نظري و با روش‌شناسي معين تحليل كند. فرضيه تحقيق، امكان دست‌يابي به اخلاق پژوهش به منزله يك دانش با اضلاع معرفتي معين است. روش آزمون فرضيه، تحليل منطقي براساس الگوي علم‌شناسي رايج در سده‌هاي اخير نزد دانشمندان مسلمان، الگوي علم‌شناسي اصوليان، است. بر اين اساس، اخلاق پژوهش فراتر از توصيه‌هاي اخلاقي، دانشي منسجم را به دست مي‌دهد كه با اهداف، منابع، رهيافت‌ها و روش‌شناسي مشخص، امكان تشخيص درست و حل اثربخش مسايل اخلاقي را ميسر مي‌سازد. بدين ترتيب، مواجهه مبتني بر آزمون و خطاي فردي و اخذ مواضع عجالتي در قبال معضلات اخلاقي در پژوهش جاي خود را به تحليل روشمند و علمي مي‌دهد و دستيابي به چنين دانشي مي‌تواند برنامه‌هاي پيشگيري و درمان آسيب‌هاي اخلاقي در پژوهش و نيز برنامه‌هاي ترويج اخلاق نزد محققان و موسسه‌هاي پژوهشي را توسعه دهد.

The expanse of research in academic circles and organizations and vulnerability of research morality underlines the need for morality in research. The main focus of the present paper is to study the epistemic dimensions of a discipline that is capable of analyzing ethical issues of research within a specific theoretical framework and methodology. The main hypothesis of the present paper is: it is possible to achieve ethics in research as a discipline with definite epistemic dimensions. The methodology to test the hypothesis is logical analysis on the basis of the model of scientology which has been prevalent among the Muslim scholars over the recent centuries, that is, the model of Principlists’ scientology. On the basis of this model, ethics in research goes beyond ethical recommendations and through its definite objectives, resources, approaches and methodology provides an opportunity for proper understanding and effective solution of ethical issues. Thus, encountering ethical problems through individual trial and error and taking temporary stances towards such problems would be replaced with a methodological and scientific analysis. The establishment of such a discipline can promote preventive programs and cure of ethical ailments in research and can also expand programs for promotion of ethics among researchers and research institutes.
