Evaluation of Iranian Journals Indexed in the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI)

From among scores of Iranian scientific research journals which publish in English language, only three journals namely "The Iranian Journal of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering" (IJCCE), "The Iranian Polymer Journal" (IPJ) and "The Iranian Journal of Science and Technology" (IJST) are in the list of Web of Science (WOS) from the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) which indexes science producing journals worldwide. These three journals are in the extended list of journals added to science citation index journal for their scientific importance in the developing countries. Hence, IJCCE, IPJ and IJST should be ranked as second class in the ISI journals Iist. The Impact Factors (IF) of IJCCE, IPJ and IJST are 0.34, 0.33 and 0.03, respectively, and their Immediacy Indexes were 0.062, 0.122 and 0.013 in 2004. The half-life of citations made to the journals and in the journals were 5.1 for IJCCE and more than 10 years for both IPJ and IJST. Today, standardization of Iranian scientific research journals to be indexed in WOS should be seriously taken into consideration to increase our contribution to the science production in the world.
