Self Evaluation of National Research Institutes in Iran

Self Evaluation of research institutes is one of the most important factors for studying research promotion. Recent attempts have shown that research has been institutionalized in compare with previous years. Countries use different methods to classify R and Dʹs. The method of classification in Iran formed on accordance with approval of Cultural Revolution Council. The approval includes the definition of research organizations, centers, groups and other team works. This paper tries to present the indices of self evaluations of R and Dʹs in Iran and the role of these assessments for self --- improvement and promotion of research activities.
