Acquaintance with Endocrine Research Center Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences

Research centres are supposed to design plans and implement scientific strategies to meet the social, cultural and health demands of the community. The strategic programme of the Endocrine Research Centre (ERC) was initially designed in 2000 and was later evaluated in 2004. The ERC priorities are reflected in the acronym ACCEPT in which A stands for Attainment, C for Cost, C for Complication, E for Efficiency, P for Popularity and T for Timing. After designing its strategic objectives, the quality control was continuously maintained through FOCUS PDCA another acronym abbreviated for Find, Organized, Clarify, Understand, Select, Plan, Doing, Check, and Act. The evaluation of its strategic plans was carried out according to the CIIP model and finally the findings were presented as numerical values. The success of the programme was mainly due to the Total Quality Management maintained throughout its implementation. All objectives of high priority were achieved whereas (64% and 25%) of objectives were classified as lesser priority and thus were scheduled to be achieved in later stages of the programme.
