0///re Properties of an Epoxy-Polyamine Protective Coating Reinforced with Glass Flake Pigment in Presence of Micaceous Iron Oxide Pigment

In this paper, a protective coating based on epoxy-polyamine resin with two different pigments, micaceous iron oxide and glass flake, is investigated. Coating formulations are designed based on three variable parameters: "pigment to total resin" ratio, "total glass flake pigment to MIO pigment" ratio and ratio of "two different particle size GF pigments". Special Cubic experimental design is used to minimize the number of experiments. The samples are applied on sand-blasted steel plates. Various tests like as evaluation of adhesion, abrasion resistance of coatings, salt spray resistance and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy are performed. Regarding to the obtained results, the optimum formulation which provides the coating with appropriate properties, is achieved.
