Voltage instability studies in Khorasan network and proposing methods to prevent it using static analysis

Recently more voltage instability events have occurred in power systems and therefore study of this phenomenon has become more important. In this paper, Khorasan power system is simulated using accurate models for its elements. Some static voltage stability methods are analyzed and studied. Each of these methods consider various features and have specific pros and cons which are studied in the paper. In the paper, four methods, i.e. sensitivity analysis, eigen values, V-Q curves and P-V curves are considered and simulated. Khorasan province power network at the 400/132/63 kV levels has been modeled precisely. This network is spread over a wide region and includes long transmission lines and is appropriate for voltage stability studies. Using this network, the four static methods are evaluated and their performances are compared. In addition, some methods for increasing the voltage stability limits are proposed.
