The Effect of Family Communication Patterns on Children’s Empathy and Self-Control

هدف پژوهش حاضر بررسي نقش پيش بيني كنندگي ابعاد گفت وشنود و همنوايي الگوهاي ارتباطي خانواده بر همدلي و خويشتنداري فرزندان به عنوان شاخص هاي هوش هيجاني مي-باشد. گروه نمونه پژوهش را 348 دانش آموز دختر و پسر پايه هاي سوم تا پنجم ابتدايي تشكيل مي-دهند. مقياس همدلي (ايزنبرگ و همكاران، 1991)، نسخه ب ابزار الگوهاي ارتباطي خانواده (فيتزپاتريك و ريچي، 1994) و مقياس خويشتنداري (كندال و ويلكاكس، 1979) مورد استفاده قرار گرفتند. اين مقياس ها به ترتيب توسط كودك، مادر و آموزگار تكميل شدند. نتايج تحليل عاملي، همبستگي گويه با نمره كل و آلفاي كرونباخ، روايي و پايايي مطلوبي براي مقياس هاي مذكور گزارش كرده اند. يافته-هاي پژوهش نشان مي دهند كه گفت وشنود خانواده پيش بيني كننده مثبت و همنوايي، پيش-بيني كننده منفي هر دو بعد همدلي و خويشتنداري مي باشند. در مقياس همدلي، دختران نسبت به پسران و پايه هاي چهارم و پنجم نسبت به پايه سوم نمرات بالاتري داشتند. در حالي كه در مقياس خويشتنداري جنسيت و پايه كلاسي نقش معناداري نداشتند.

The aim of the present research is to examine the relationship between patterns of communication (in the form of conversation) and conformity on the one hand and the empathy and self-control of children on the other. The sample comprises 348 students of third, fourth and fifth grades of primary schools. Empathy scale (Eisenberg, et al., 1991), family communication patterns instrument (Fitzpatrick & Ritchie, 1994) and self- control rating scale (Kendall & Wi-lcox, 1979) were administered. These scales were completed by the children, their mothers and teachers, respectively. Factor analysis, itemtotal correlation and Cronbach alpha coefficient reported acceptable validity and reliability of the measures. Results show that conversation was a positive and conformity was a negative predictor of empathy and self-control. Girls and 4th and 5th grades students had significantly higher mean scores on empathy scale than boys and 3rd grade students, respectively.
