The effect of diets supplemented with vitamins C and E on RBC fluctuations in (Acipenser ruthenus)

Abstract This study was carried out to determine the effects of different levels of following Vitamins C and E on the fluctuations of RBC in Acipenser rothenus in the breeding center of International Sturgeon Research Institute from January to July 2008. 9 diets were supplemented with a combination of 0, 100 and 400 mg/kg vitamin C, L-ascorbyl-2- polyphosphate (APP), and 0, 100 and 400 mg/kg vitamin E, D-alpha- tocopherol and were fed to starlet in 2 replications during 15 weeks. After adapting with experimental diet, 15 fish with the average weight of 350.92±14.28 were introduced of each tank. At the end of experiment, 3 fish of each tank were choosed randomly for collecting blood samples. The results of blood samples at the end of 15th week revealed that fish that were fed diets containing 100 mg kg1" vitamin E and 0 mg kg1" vitamin C (diet 3) and fish fed testifier diets (diet 1) had significantly the highest and the lowest RBC(p>0.05), respectively. The results showed that the different levels of dietary vitamin C and E and their increase didnʹt lead to the regular changes in number of RBC in cultured starlet.
