Investigating Factors Affecting Overseas Studentsʹʹ Academic Achievement: a Systematic Review on International Documents

مقدمه: موفقيت در دستيابي به يافته‌هاي علمي براي دانشجوياني كه در داخل و خارج از كشور به تحصيل اشتغال دارند، از اهميت ويژه‌اي برخوردار است. هدف از اين تحقيق، بررسي مستندات و شواهد موجود داخلي و بين‌المللي در خصوص عوامل موثر بر موفقيت تحصيلي دانشجويان اعزام به خارج از كشور طي سال‌هاي اخير بود. روش‌ها: كليدواژه‌هاي اصلي مورد استفاده در اين تحقيق، عبارت بودند از: academic success، scholarship، و foreign student، overseas students، و موتورجستجوهاي اصلي شامل: web of knowledge، scopus، pubmed و google scholar بودند. نتايج به دست آمده با يكديگر تركيب شد. مقالات به دست آمده بر اساس ميزان ارتباط موضوعي با عنوان تحقيق به سه دسته مرتبط، نيمه‌مرتبط و غير مرتبط تقسيم شدند. نتايج: از مجموع پنج پايگاه اينترنتي، حدود 28000 يافته به دست آمد. از بين 204 مقاله مورد بررسي، 27 مقاله واجد شرايط لازم براي ورود به مطالعه بودند. از نظر تحليل محتوا، موارد مهم شامل: داشتن تسلط به زبان انگليسي و همچنين زبان كشور محل تحصيل، تاثير عوامل دموگرافيك، وجود برنامه‌هاي آموزشي ويژه قبل از اعزام دانشجو به خارج، تاثير عوامل اجتماعي، اقتصادي، شخصيتي و خانوادگي، داشتن توانايي برقراري ارتباط با استاد راهنما بود. نتيجه‌گيري: داشتن تسلط به زبان انگليسي و همچنين زبان كشور محل تحصيل، از ويژگي‌هاي ممتاز دانشجويان بورسيه به حساب مي‌آيد. همچنين عوامل ديگري مانند استاد راهنما، مشخصات شخصيتي فرد و شرايط زندگي وي از عوامل مهم است.

Introduction: Success in achieving scientific outcomes is of special importance for students studying overseas and inland. The aim of this study was to investigate national and international documents and evidences considering factors affecting overseas studentsʹ academic achievement in recent years. Methods: The main keywords used in this study were: academic success, scholarship, foreign student, and overseas students; and search engines included Web of Knowledge, Scopus, Pubmed, and Google Scholar. The results were combined and the obtained articles were divided into three categories of related, semi related, and not-related based on thematic relationship with study subject. Results: Almost 28000 records were found through these 5 internet databases. Out of 204 articles under investigation, 27 articles met the criteria for inclusion in the study. In performing content analysis, main cases included: fluency in English and the language of the place of the study, the effect of demographic factors, the educational programs before detaching students to overseas, the effect of socioeconomic, personal and familial factors, and the ability to communicate with supervisor. Conclusion: Fluency in English and the language of the place of the study is among superior characteristics of scholarship students. Additional factors such as supervisor, personal features of every individual and living condition are among important factors.
