Economy and Hegemony: The Impact of Economic Crisis on Americaʹs World Status

Americaʹs efforts to extend its internal rules to the international order, as well as the oppositions coming from actors like European countries, China, and Russia has transferred this challenge to other countries as well, hence a new level of conflict has occurred. So, in the present circumstances, America alone is not able to make the final decision in relation to the numerous complex affairs and considerations in the international community. A glance at the trend, level, and extent of the U.S. economic hegemony in the worldʹs economy, would reveal that U.S. economic factors have gradually weakened. Another challenge for Americaʹs hegemony is that of Americaʹs Asian and European economic rivals who are in serious competition with America, and are able to change the situation in their favor in case they can make a proper exploitation of this condition. The history of hegemonic actors and domination seeking powers shows that no country has been able to achieve hegemonic power without economic capability, nor has it been able to lead the world and remain as a great power without acquiring a considerable economic power.
