Islamic Wave of Democracy; Islamic Revolutionʹs Influence on Democratization Process in Islamic Countries

Subsequent to the victory of Islamic revolution, religious democracy was followed as the democratic theory of the Islamic revolution. As democratic as it was, it had distinctive cultural features. Influence and waves of this democratization process were not restricted to Iranian territory, rather it tremendously contributed to reinforcement of democratic reforms processes in regional Islamic countries. Cultural proximity of Islamic countries with Iran initiated a wave in Muslim nations to demand democracy. This wave enjoyed all the features Huntington had enumerated for democracy waves. Various aspects of this process can be studied and explained in three levels: macro, meso and micro
