Abstract:
Nanocrystalline Ti02 powders and films have been prepared by sol-gel route aided with polymeric fugitive ^ agents (PFA). One of the highest SSA reported in the literature, obtained without PFA, was achieved (i.e., 181m2/g), ^ a value that could be increased up to 304 m2/g, for PFA/Ti02 powders. Crystallite sizes vary from 1 nm for as- ^ produced powders up to 4 nm for powders heat-treated at 6002C. Thin films produced under optimised conditions Va showed excellent microstructural properties for gas sensing applications. They exhibited a stable response towards CO and M02 at a low operating temperature of 200SC. The response magnitude and response and recovery times of the sensors was enhanced by introduction of PFA.
