Identification of ectoparasites of Garmsar Hablerud river fish (Semnan province)

In this survey, 3 species of local fishes of the Hablerud river in Semnan province (in the Sarmatian region belonging to the large paleoarctic fauna) in 3 stages(summer, autumn and winter 2009) were parasitologically studied. This fishes were included, Barbus lacerta, Capoeta aculeate and Capoeta damascina. Upon being hunted, the fishes were transferred alive to laboratory of Garmsar veterinary faculty and parasitologically studied after the determination of their species and genus by identification keys Berg, Coad, Saadati and Abdeli. Six species of parasites were totally identified as follow: Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, Trichodina sp. Myxobolus cristatus, Myxobolus molnari, Dactylogyrus lenkorani and Dactylogyrus linstowi. out of all the 118 of the fishes hunted in this research, 69 fishes (58.5%) have parasite in their skin and gills, the most parasities were identified in first stage, and from forty-eight fishes in this stage the fish were parasitic. This research is the first study on parasites in Hablerud fishes and it seems, this study is the first survey on fish parasite infections in Hablerud River.
