Reviewing Man-nature Interaction via Analyzing Metaphor of Garden in the Iranian Contemporary Paintings

In the current century many proposals have been offered to tackle the tension between Man and his environment and the destruction that has often followed. Since this tension is a global phenomenon .many of the proposed solutions operate as general and non-specific theories that best operate at the global level. However.it is possible to investigate the relationship between contemporary Man and his environment through each endogenous culture and propose alternative proposals derived from such investigations. Since asking individuals directly about the their interaction with the environment often produces familiar clichos and stereotypical results .this research attempts a different approach that involves analyzing contemporary Iranian paintings (as a suitable example of cultural expression) in order to investigate the significance of the garden .nature and the environment in the particular endogenous culture of Iran. In this paper a selection of paintings has been subjected to quantitative and qualitative analysis. The paintings were chosen from the exhibitions at The 7 Biannual of Iranian Contemporary Paintings and the 5 Biannual of Iranian Women Contemporary Paintings (TAJALI-E-EHSAS). This paper argues that the results of this research demonstrates that the problems between Man and his/her environment and the solutions that are offered for must be approached through an examination of the perceptual and cultural concepts of contemporary human beings and through an examination of their presentation and representation of nature.
