Vestibular disorders in children

چكيده مقدمه: از آن جا كه كودكان قادر به بيان ويژگي مشكل خود نيستند، تشخيص و مديريت اختلالات تعادلي در دوران كودكي، سخت‌تر از بزرگ‌سالان است. علايم اختلالات دهليزي در كودكان به آساني با مشكلات رفتاري يا پزشكي ديگر اشتباه گرفته مي‌شود و موجب تشخيص نادرست و بررسي‌ها و درمان‌هاي نامناسب مي‌گردد. بنابراين در اين مطالعه مروري به بيان ويژگي‌هاي اختلالات دهليزي در كودكان پرداخته شد. مواد و روش‌ها: با استفاده از كليد واژه‌هاي "اختلالات دهليزي كودكان"، "منگي"و "سرگيجه" مقالات منتشر شده در اين مورد، در بانك‌هاي اطلاعاتي Science Direct، PubMed، Google Scholar، ProQuest و Scopus در بازه زماني 2011-1993، مورد بررسي قرار گرفت. يافته‌ها: حاصل جستجوي انجام گرفته، 85 مقاله پژوهشي و 8 مقاله مروري بود. پس از بررسي عنوان، مقدمه و بحث در مورد مقالات پژوهشي و مطالعه كامل مقالات مروري، 26 مقاله يافت شد كه به موضوع مورد نظر پرداخته بودند و در اين مطالعه مروري مورد بررسي قرار گرفتند. نتيجه‎گيري: اختلالات دهليزي كودكان ممكن است شايع‌تر از آن چيزي باشد كه پيش از اين تصور مي‌شد. حملات سرگيجه ممكن است به سختي تحمل شود و براي كودكان رنج‌آور باشد. بنابراين مديريت اين جنبه‌ها نيز از اهميت زيادي برخوردار است و مشاوره لازم بايد به والدين و كودك داده شود. كليد واژه‌ها: اختلالات دهليزي، كودكان، سرگيجه، منگي

Abstract Introduction: Diagnosis and management of balance disorders is more difficult in young patients than in adults since children are frequently unable to explain the nature of their complaint. The symptoms of vestibular disorders in children may easily be mistaken for behavioral or other medical problems, leading to wrong diagnosis and inappropriate evaluation and treatment. This review summaries the most common causes of childhood vestibular disorders and suggests the need for a multidisciplinary approach to their assessment. Materials and Methods: The present study was a review of the latest literature on the subject of neurophysiological model of tinnitus using Science Direct, PuBmed, Google Scholar, ProQuet, Scopus databases. The following keywords were used to perform the search “vestibular disorders of children”, “dizziness” and “vertigo”. Results: Of 85 original and 87 review articles initially found, 26 articles were finally selected having studied original articles on the basis of their title, introduction and discussion and full reading of review articles. The selected articles were used to carry out this review on vestibular disorders in children. Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that childhood vestibular disorders may be more common than what previously thought. Attacks of vertigo may be severe and poorly tolerated in children, thus management of this aspect is important and both the child and his/her parents should to be counseled.
