Frequency of oral radiographs requested by dental practitioners in patients under health insurance policy coverage referring to radiology centers in Isfahan in 2010

چكيده مقدمه: تعداد نماهاي راديوگرافي تهيه شده از بيماران در سال‌هاي اخير افزايش يافته است. از سوي ديگر بررسي كافي درباره انواع راديوگرافي‌هاي تجويز شده توسط دندان‌پزشكان در كشور انجام نشده است. بررسي انواع راديوگرافي‌هاي تجويز شده توسط دندان‌پزشكان عمومي و متخصص در نسخه‌هاي بيمه خدمات درماني بيماران مراجعه كننده به مراكز راديولوژي شهر اصفهان در سال 1389 هدف اين مطالعه بود. مواد و روش‌ها: در اين مطالعه مقطعي- توصيفي، تعداد 2400 نسخه راديوگرافي دنداني موجود در سازمان خدمات درماني شهر اصفهان به صورت تصادفي انتخاب و ارزيابي شدند. اطلاعات به دست آمده از اين نسخه‌ها شامل رشته تخصصي، جنس و سن بيمار به همراه نوع راديوگرافي‌هاي تجويزي تعيين شد و با استفاده از آزمون‌هاي Chi-square و رگرسيون خطي از نظر آماري آناليز شدند (05/0 = ?). يافته‌ها: تعداد راديوگرافي‌هاي تجويز شده از سوي متخصصين اندودنتيست 408 مورد (0/17 درصد)؛ جراح 404 مورد (8/16 درصد) و ارتودنتيست 362 مورد (1/15 درصد) بود و 34 مورد (5/14 درصد) آن‌ها، از سوي دندان‌پزشك عمومي و بقيه توسط ساير متخصصين نسخه شده بود. از تعداد 2400 نسخه راديوگرافي، 1141 مورد (5/47 درصد) مربوط به راديوگرافي‌هاي بايت‌وينگ و پري‌اپيكال 1064 مورد (3/44 درصد) از نوع پانوراميك، 169 مورد (0/7 درصد) از نوع راديوگرافي سفالوگرام و بقيه مربوط به ساير راديوگرافي‌ها بودند. 1569 عدد از راديوگرافي‌ها (4/65 درصد) براي بيماران زن و 831 مورد (6/34 درصد) براي بيماران مرد تجويز شده بود. نتيجه‌گيري: راديوگرافي‌هاي بايت‌وينگ، پري‌اپيكال و پانوراميك به ترتيب بيشترين موارد تجويز بودند. متخصصين اندودنتيست، جراح و ارتودنتيست بيشترين موارد تجويز راديوگرافي را داشتند. كليد واژه‌ها: راديوگرافي‌، دنداني، نسخه

Abstract Introduction: The number of radiographies taken from patients has increased in recent years. On the other hand, the radiographic images prescribed for patients have not been evaluated in the country. The aim of the present study was to determine the type of radiographic images prescribed by general dental practitioners and specialists in patients under health insurance policy coverage, referring to the oral and maxillofacial radiology centers in Isfahan in 2010. Materials and methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, 2400 prescribed dental radiographs were randomly selected from the archives of Treatment Services Organization. The data of the prescriptions including the dentists’ gender and specialty field, patients’ age and gender or radiographic image type were extracted and statistically analyzed by chi-squared and linear regression tests (? = 0.05). Results: Most of the radiographic techniques evaluated had been requested by endodontists (408; 17.0%), oral surgeons (404, 16.8%) and orthodontists (362, 15.1%) while 348 (14.5%) belonged to general practitioiners and the rest had been requested by other specialists. Of all the radiographic techniques requested, 47.5% (1141 cases) were bitewing and periapical, 44.3% (1064 cases) were panoramic views, 7.0% (169 cases) were cephalograms and the rest were other types. A total of 65.4% (1569) of the radiographic images had been prescribed for females and 34.6% (831) for males. Conclusion: Bitewing, periapical and panoramic radiographic techniques had the highest request rates in descending order. Endodontists, oral surgeons and orthodontists had the highest request rates.
