آثار ادبي بطور نامحسوس و غيرمستقيم، آرمان‌ها، تفكرات و شيوه زندگي هر ملّت را در طول تاريخ نشان مي‌دهد و تصاويري هنرمندانه‌ از واقعيات اجتماعي عرضه مي‌دارد. نگاه جامعه‌شناختي به ‌ادبيات مي‌تواند وضعيت اجتماعي، سياسي و فرهنگي هر دوره را تا حدودي نمايان سازد. يكي از مهم‌ترين ويژگي‌هاي ادبيات و شعر مشروطه، تاثيرپذيري آن از جريانات اجتماعي و سياسي است كه تحت تاثير اوضاع و شرايط حاكم بر جامعه، شعر وارد حوزه زندگي مردم مي‌شود و نحوه زندگي ملّت را بتصوير مي‌كشد. جامعه ‌ايران در حال و هواي انقلاب و تغيير و تحول اساسي است و روشن‌فكران تلاش دارند، سنت‌هاي جديد، جاي‌گزين سنت‌هاي كهنه گردد. در اين راستا نيز «ادبيات اعتراض و انتقاد» شكل مي‌گيرد كه خصيصه بارز آن جامعه‌گرايي و واقع‌گرايي است. از ره‌گذر بررسي اشعار اين دوره براحتي مي‌توان اوضاع جامعه آن زمان را ترسيم نمود و افق فكري شاعران و نوع تلقي آنان را نسبت به مسايل اجتماعي و فرهنگي تبيين و تفسير كرد.

Literary works imperceptibly and indirectly reflect ideals, thoughts, life styles of every nation throughout history and it presents artistic portrays of social realities. The sociological approach to literature can reveal the social, political, and cultural milieu of every period to a certain extent. One of the most important features of literature and poetry of constitutionalism is the influence of the social and political movements. Under the influence of conditions dominating the society, poetry has entered the life of people and it depicts the nation’s way of life. Iran’s society is underway of change and revolution and the intellectuals attempt to replace the old traditions with the new ones. To realize that, the literature of protest and criticism whose important characteristic is socialism and realism is formed. Upon investigating the poetry of this period, one can easily reconstruct social conditions of that time and express and interpret the mental horizons of poets and their attitudes towards social and cultural issues.
