هويت مكاني، تابعي از كاركرد فضاها وساختارهاي مكاني است. هويت هاي مكاني برانگيزاننده احساس تعلق مكاني متفاوت هستند كه متناسب با فرهنگ سياسي ساكنان آن محدده خالق كنش هاي سياسي متفاوت به شمار مي روند. حوزه نفوذ مكان ها تابعي از وزن مكاني و موقعيت راهبردي آنهاست. از اين منظر كنش گران سياسي با حضور در مكان هاي خاص به قدرت نمايي و سهم خواهي مي پردازند. مناطق 6 و 11 تهران به واسطه وجود مراكز مختلف سياسي، آموزشي در مقياس ملي و بين المللي و پيوند شرق و غرب تهران طي چند دهه گذشته كارويژه سياسي خاصي به محدوده ميدان و خيابان انقلاب داده اند. اين ويژگي ها محدوده ياد شده را آوردگاه نيروها و جريان هاي سياسي مختلف قرار داده است. پژوهش حاضر با بهره گيري از يافته هاي ميداني ديگر پژوهش هاي انجام شده به نتيجه رسيد كه فضا، ساختار و كاركردهاي مكاني محدوده ميدان و خيابان انقلاب القا كننده آن شكل از هويت مكاني براي جريان هاي سياسي است كه ديگر محدوده ها توان تامين آرمان ها و مطالبات آنها را ندارند.
