Duties and performance of academic advisors from the view of students of Tabriz School of Nursing and Midwifery in 2010

سابقه و اهداف: حمايت، مشاوره و راهنمايي دانشجويان در طول دوره تحصيل يكي از مهم‌ترين وظايف دانشگاه‌ها مي‌باشد. اين مطالعه به منظور تعيين ديدگاه دانشجويان نسبت به وظايف و عملكرد اساتيد راهنما طراحي شده است. روش‌بررسي: اين پژوهش از نوع توصيفي - تحليلي مي‌باشد كه بر روي 250 دانشجوي پرستاري و مامايي و اتاق عمل كه با روش سرشماري انتخاب شده بودند، انجام گرفت. جهت تعيين ديدگاه دانشجويان نسبت به وظايف و عملكرد اساتيد راهنما از پرسشنامه استفاده شد. تجزيه و تحليل يافته‌ها با استفاده از نرم افزار آماري SPSS ويرايش 17 و آمار توصيفي و استنباطي انجام گرفت. يافته‌ها: نتايج نشان داد بيش از نيمي از دانشجويان موافق با وظايف فعلي استاد راهنما بودند و از ديدگاه دانشجويان “ارايه راهنمايي در زمينه شغل و ادامه تحصيل”، “ارزيابي وضعيت تحصيلي فعلي دانشجو” مهم‌ترين وظايف و “مشورت استاد مشاور با ساير كارشناسان در مورد مشكلات موجود” و “معرفي دانشجو به واحدهاي مربوطه براي رفع نيازهاي وي” كم اهميت ترين وظايف اساتيد راهنما بود. عملكرد اساتيد راهنما از ديدگاه 6/31 درصد دانشجويان خوب برآورد شد. نتيجه‌گيري: نتايج اين پژوهش نشان داد كه در كل دانشجويان ديدگاه خوب به وظايف اساتيد راهنما داشتند كه نشان دهنده وجود پتانسيل مناسب جهت ارتقاي امر مشاوره دانشجويان مي‌باشد. با توجه به نتايج عملكرد اساتيد نياز به ايجاد تغييرات اساسي در فرايند مشاوره تحصيلي اساتيد راهنما مي‌باشد.

Introduction: Support, advice and guidance of students during of study are one of the most important responsibilities of universities. They are responsible to solve studentsʹ problem about this matter. Thus, this study has been designed to determine the studentsʹ view about of the Duties and Performance of Academic advisors. Methods: This study which is a descriptive- analytical study. Is performed on 250 nursing and midwifery and operation room students selected using by census method. In order to analysis of finding, Questionnaire has been used to determine the studentsʹ view of the duties and performance of academic advisors. SPSS 17 software and descriptive - inferential statistic has been used to analysis of finding. Results: The findings showed that, more than half of students were agree with academic advisors duties. From studentsʹ view "offering advice in terms of job and education" and "assessing the current academic status of students" were as main tasks of academic advisors. "Advisorʹ consult with other experts about the current problems" and the "introduction of relevant units to meet the needs of students" were the weakest cases of performance of academic advisors. And performance of academic advisors was good in students’ view about 31.6 percent. Conclusion: In this study views of students are well suited to the tasks of academic advisors. This issue indicated that, there is an appropriate potential to promote students consulting.
