بررسي استعاره، اسطوره و نماد در رمان «رود‌واره‌اي» ژان‌كريستف

The study of the “river novel” of Jean-Christophe from three perspectives: literary genre, metaphor, myth, and symbol

بين سال‌هاي 1890 تا 1904، پس از جريان‌هاي ادبي واقع‌گرايي و طبيعت‌گرايي، نويسندگان در‌صدد ايجاد نوع جديدي از رمان بودند. سرانجام رومن رولان (1944-1866)، در سال 1904، با خلق رمان ژان‌كريستف نوع جديدي از رمان تحت عنوان "رمان رودواره‌اي" را وارد عرصه ادبيات فرانسه كرد. "رمان رودواره اي " به نوعي از رمان گفته مي شود كه بسيار طولاني و شامل چندين جلد باشد. رولان در نگارش اين رمان بلند از حيث زيبايي‌شناسي بسيار متاثر از رمان بلند جنگ و صلح، شاهكار ليون تولستوي، نويسنده روس، بوده است. از طرفي انتخاب اصطلاح "رمان رود‌واره‌اي" از جانب رولان بدون دليل نبوده‌است. او در اين رمان از تصوير رودخانه بهره فراوان برده و به زيبايي از آن در چندين مفهوم استعاري استفاده كرده و كاربرد اين اصطلاح را توجيه كرده‌است. به علاوه در آخرين صحنه رمان، در هنگام مرگ ژان‌كريستف، از اسطوره "سن‌كريستف" (كريستف مقدس) و كهن‌الگوي "گذر از آب" نيز بهره برده‌است. بنابراين به اين نوع رمان نمي توان تنها از منظر نوع ادبي نگريست. مطالعه حاضر بر آن است تا ازسه ديدگاه اثر رومن رولان را بررسي نمايد: "رمان رود‌واره‌اي" به عنوان يك نوع ادبي، تصوير رود و معناي استعاري آن و نيز نقش اسطوره و نماد در رمان ژان‌كريستف

Between 1890 and 1904, after the literary movement of realism and naturalism, the French authors were going to create a new kind of novel. Finally, Romain Rolland (1866-1944) by writing the novel entitled Jean-Christophe created a new kind of novel in French literature, nowadays referred to as the “river novel”. It is a new kind of novel that is very long and may encompass several volumes. In writing this long novel, Rolland was strongly influenced aesthetically by Leo Tolstoy’s masterpiece, War and Peace, in Russian. In this novel, Rolland has used the image of the river beautifully in some metaphorical concepts, introducing the expression for the first time. Moreover in the last scene of the novel, at the time of Jean-Christophe’s death, he took advantage of the myth of “Saint-Christophe” and the archetype of the “crossing of the waters”. So, one cannot consider this novel only in terms of a literary genre. This study has investigated the work from three perspectives: the “river novel” as a literary genre, the image of the river, and metaphorical expression. Moreover, the role of myth and symbol in the novel has also been considered.
