آموزش و تحقيق به طور عام و آموزش عالي به طور خاص عامل مهمي در ايجاد بنيان هاي تكامل هر جامعه‌اي محسوب مي شوند. از اين رو، در عصر حاضر توجه به نگرش استراتژيك به دانشگاه ها به منظور برخورد منطقي و كارآمد با چالش هاي معاصرـ از جمله پديده جهاني‌شدن‌ـ و اجتناب از هر گونه آسيب‌زايي و يا منزوي شدن در بافت جهاني، ضروري است. از سويي ديگر، يكي از اهداف اساسي مراكز آموزش عالي، رشد و توسعه دانش بنيادي در قلمرو علوم مختلف است و هر گونه برنامه ريزي با نظر به اين هدف بايد صورت پذيرد. بر اين اساس، سوال اصلي ما در مقاله حاضر اين است كه پديده جهاني شدن چه پيامدهايي براي تحقيقات بنيادي دانشگاه ها به همراه داشته است؟ به منظور پاسخگويي به اين سوال، ابتدا مفهوم و سير تاريخي جهاني شدن و مفروضات و پيامدهاي فلسفي آن تشريح شده و پس از بررسي برخي از پيامدهاي جهاني شدن بر آموزش عالي به طور عام، در پايان به طور خاص اثرات چالش‌هاي اخير بر تحقيقات بنيادي دانشگاهي، تحليل شده است. گفتني است كه در اين پژوهش، به منظور تجزيه و تحليل يافته‌ها از روش تحقيق فلسفي تحليلي‌ـ استنتاجي استفاده شده است.

Education and research in general and higher education in particular constitute important factors in creating foundations for development in every society. Thus, in the present era a growing attention must be paid to the view that considers strategic importance of universities as a necessary step to be taken in forging a logical and efficient encounter with the current challenges – including the phenomenon of globalization – and avoiding damage or isolation in the global fabric. On the other hand, one of the basic goals of higher education centers is to develop and expand of fundamental science in the realms of various sciences. Planning of any kind should be carried out considering such goal. Based on this, our main question here is that what consequences globalization has had for the Fundamental research of universities? To answer this question we start with a detailed description of concept and historical course undergone by globalization and also by explaining main assumptions of globalization and its philosophical consequences. Upon exposing some of the impacts of globalization on higher education in general, finally the influences of recent challenges exerted over fundamental academic research have been dealt with. This research for analysis of findings has used a philosophical research method known as analytic-deductive method.
