واژه حجاب در لغت معاني مختلفي دارد كه پرده، حايل، مانع و تحت پوشش لباس واقع شدن از جمله آنها است و در اصطلاح، عبارت است از پوشش خاصي كه سر و گردن و قسمت برآمدگي‌هاي اندام زن را مي‌پوشاند و نيز زيورآلات او را طبق موازين اسلامي، مستور مي‌دارد، چيزي كه در جهت تقويت عفت، پارسايي انسان و تربيت جامعه بر مبناي وَحياني تاكيد دارد و سعادت‌مندي و كمال انسان‌ها منوط به پاي‌بندي و رعايت آن است. هم‌چنين به اثبات رسيد كه حجاب داراي انواعي است و در هر مورد آن چيستي خاصي از حجاب را مي‌توان از ديدگاه اسلام مشاهده نمود و نيز محقق شد كه در باب رعايت حجاب اسلامي چشم، صورت، پشت، كف دست‌ها و قدم‌ها مشمول وجوب پوشش نيست و در اين تحقيق اثبات شد كه حجاب، يك اصل سابقه‌دار در ميان افراد بشر است. هم‌چنين حجاب در راستاي تقويت، عفت و كمال انسان‌ها مورد توجه اسلام بوده، از بروز بسياري از ناهنجاري‌ها و فساد اخلاقي پيشگيري مي‌كند.

The word veil has different meanings in the locution including the curtain, delimiter, barrier, and being covered by the clothes, and in the specialized meaning of the word, it is a special covering, which covers the women’s head, neck and their bodies’ protuberances and also covers her jewelries according to the Islamic standards; it a matter which emphasizes the consolidation of chastity, the human’s righteousness and the revealed-base society training, and the humans’ blissfulness and perfection depends on being duty bound and observing them. Also, it was approved thatthe veil has some types, and about each type of it, a special nature can be observed from the viewpoint of Islam.It was verified that about observing the Islamic veil, the eyes, face, hand’s back and palm and the steps are not included in the veil’s obligation.The veil is a confirmed principle among the human beings and it has been under the attention of the Islam in the direction of reinforcement, chastity and the perfection of human. It also prevents many ethical disorders and corruptions.
