شد و مجلس شد

«شَدّ» ميان‌بندي نمادين بوده كه هنگام تشرف و پيوستن به سلك جماعات اهل فتوت، اصناف و برخي طريقت‌هاي صوفيه، در مراسمي آييني و در مجلسي با حضور اعضاي پيشين، به كمر فرد تازه‌وارد و مبتدي بسته مي‌شده است؛ با برگزاري آيين شدّ، شخص به عضويت دايمي يا آزمايشي جماعات يادشده درمي‌آمد. اين آيين كه دست كم تا سده هفتم هجري پيشينه دارد، تا دوره حاضر – براي نمونه نزد برخي سلسله‌هاي متصوفه- ادامه يافته است. شدّ، افزون بر اين‌كه نشاني از تاييد عضويت جماعات يادشده بوده، كاركردهاي ديگري نيز داشته است؛ چنان‌كه نزد پيشه‌وران و اهل بازار، شدّ عضو، به نوعي پروانه كسب او شمرده مي‌شده، و در بين برخي متصوفه كاركردهايي شبيه آيين «لُبس خرقه» داشته است.كاركردها، تاريخچه، جنس و شكل و ويژگي‌هاي ظاهري، شرايط مشدودان و جزييات مراسم و مجلس شدّ، بر اساس فتوت‌نامه‌ها و كسب‌نامه‌ها (به‌ويژه فتوت‌نامه‌هاي پارسي كه در پژوهش‌هاي پيشين كمتر به آنها پرداخته شده) در اين مقاله بررسي شده‌اند.

Amin Mehrabani Faculty Member, Department of Social History, Encyclopaedia Islamica Foundation, Tehran, Iran "Shadd" is a symbolic belt which was being tied around the waist of the neophytes and novices of fity?n, a?n?f and some sufi communities in an initiation ceremony where the earlier waist-tied (mashd?d) members presented. By this ceremony, the person became, provisionally or permanently, a member of the aforementioned communities. It has been emerged at least in the 7th century and continued in some Sufi orders so far. In addition to be a sign of acceptance in the mentioned groups, shadd has also functioned in some other ways; among the traders, it has somehow been as a license for their job and among some Sufis functioned as lubs i khirqa ceremony. In this paper, the function, history, material, apparent features, conditions and terms of mashd?ds ceremony details have been investigated. The study is based on the futuwwat-n?mas and kasb-n?mas, particularly the Persian ones which have been seldom studied in previous surveys.
