Muʹʹmin al-Tāq and his theological method

ابوجعفر، محمد بن علي بن النعمان مومن‌الطاق، از شاگردان برجسته امام صادق7 است كه هم‌زمان با متكلماني چون هشام بن حكم و هشام بن سالم به فعاليت كلامي اشتغال داشته است. او ساكن كوفه بوده و در فضاي ارتباطي اين شهر، به ويژه در مقابل جريان‌هاي رقيب چون اهل‌حديث عراق و معتزله و يا زيديّه و خوارج، مناظرات زيبايي را به يادگار گذاشته است. وي در مناظرات خويش هم از روش احتجاج نقلي بهره گرفته است و هم از روش احتجاج عقلي. همسويي ظاهري با خصم، طرح سوال و پرسش از رقيب، پرسش‏گري به جاي پاسخ‏گويي، اقرار گرفتن از خصم، رفتار به جاي گفتار، تشبيه، تمثيل و بكارگيري شواهد تاريخي، پاسخ‏گويي به شبهه از راه تبيين واژگان، از جمله روش‏هايي است كه مومن الطاق در احتجاجات كلامي خويش به كار گرفته است.

Abu Jaʹfar, Muhammad bin Ali bin al-Nuʹman –Muʹmin al-T?q- is one of remarkable students of Imam Sadiq. He was contemporary with theologians like Hush?m bin Hakam and Hush?m bin Salim and was active in the field of theology. He resided the city of Kufah, which in its interactive environment and especially beside the competitor currents like Iraqian school of hadith (ahli ?adith), and Muʹtazilites or Zaidis and Kharijites, left attractive debates as memorial. He took advantage of both methods of rational reasoning and also argumentations driven from the traditions in his debates. Apparent affinity with the opponent, coming up as a seeker of truth, posing questions and asking the opponent, asking instead of answering, making opponent to confess, behavior instead of speech, analogy, allegory and historical testimonies, solving the falsities by clarifying the terminology are from the methods that Muʹmin al-T?q used in his theologian argumentations.
