A Philosophical Obstacle to Democratization in the Islamic World

فكر فلسفي، به ويژه در قالب سياسي آن بيش از هزار سال پيش در جهان اسلام با فارابي شروع شد؛ اما به نحو ايجابي اين نوع انديشه‌ورزي در عالم سياست و عمل سياسي كمترين نتايج را از خود بر جاي گذاشته است. پرسش اين است كه فلسفه سياسي امروزه در تحولات جهان اسلام چه نقشي مي‌تواند داشته باشد؟ تامل در متون فلسفي سياسي در جهان اسلام حكايت از آن دارد كه دو مفهوم از فرد را مي‌توان در اين در فلسفه سياسي اسلامي يافت: يكي فرد فلسفي و ديگري فرد مدني. آن‌چه مي‌توانسته منشا حركت دموكراتيك باشد فرد مدني است. در حالي كه در اين سنت فكري اصالت به فرد فلسفي داده شده است. محوريت فرد فلسفي در انديشه فلسفي باعث شده تا مفاهيمي كه مي‌توانسته امكان حركت دموكراتيك را فراهم آورد، نتواند رشد و بسط يابد،‌ بلكه حتي اين نحوه تفكر به نحو سلبي مانعي نيز براي آن بوده است. تاكيد بر فرد مدني به جاي فرد فلسفي نوعي انزواي فيلسوفانه و بيرون رفتن از شهر براي دستيابي به سعادت را به دنبال داشته است. بر اساس اين پژوهش، مي‌توان گفت تفكر فلسفي در جهان اسلام، مفهوم فرد را به فرد فيلسوفي تقليل مي‌دهد كه به دليل داشتن ويژگي انحصارطلبي در فهم،‌ از يك سو و از سوي ديگر عدم پايبندي به ايده مدني‌الطبع بودن همواره مانعي جدي براي تحولات مبتني بر مشاركت (و از جمله در عصر كنوني، تحولات دموكراتيك) بوده است. لذا امرزوه، براي تحقق فعاليت‌هاي مبتي بر مشاركت جمعي و پيمودن مسيري به نام دموكراسي بايد آن نحوه تامل فلسفي را به چالش كشيد.

Philosophical thought, especially in its political form, began with the Al_Farabi more than thousand years ago in the Islamic world; but affirmatively, this kind of thought in the world of politics and political action has less results. The question is “what is the role of political philosophy in the evolutions of the present Islamic world?” Evaluating the political-philosophical texts in the Islamic world revealed that there are two main definitions for individual: “philosophical” individual and “civil” individual. While in this approach the philosophical individual is the main focus but the civil individual has been known as the main origin of democratic movement. The pivotal role of philosophical individual in philosophical thought has caused that concepts which could have produce democratic movement, cannot be developed; and even this method of thinking, negatively, was a barrier for it. Emphasizing on civil individual rather than philosophical individual has brought a sort of philosophical seclusion, resulted that the philosopher leaves cities for achieving happiness in isolation. Therefore, it can concluded that , philosophical thought in the Islamic world lessens the concept of individual to philosophical individual which, due to having the exclusive characteristic in understanding and arguing, has always been an essential barrier for cooperative activities (in recent decades the democratic behavior). However in order to achieve cooperative activities and going through a democratic way, there is need to challenge this kind of philosophical thought.
