Surveying Javadi Amoli’s View on the Ontological Argument

آيت‌الله جوادي آملي از جمله انديشمندان مسلماني است كه هيچ‌يك از تقريرهاي برهان وجودي فيلسوفان غربي و مسلمان را نمي‌پذيرد و آن‌ها را نوعي مغالطه مي‌داند؛ وي همانند منتقدان غربي اين برهان، معتقد است كه از هيچ مفهومي، حتي مفهوم خدا يا واجب الوجود، نمي‌‌‌توان وجود خارجي آن را نتيجه گرفت. وي اين انتقاد را با مفاهيم فلسفه اسلامي توضيح مي‌‌‌‌دهد و اشكال اصلي اين برهان را در خلط حمل اولي ذاتي و شايع صناعي مي‌‌‌داند. انتقاد ديگر استاد جوادي به اين برهان اين است كه بر اساس اين برهان ما بايد از مفهوم شريك الباري هم، وجود آن را نتيجه بگيريم، چراكه در مفهوم شرك الباري نيز، تمام صفات خدا، مانند وجوب وجود و كمال مطلق، گنجانده شده است. اين مقاله به بررسي ديدگاه وي درباره برهان وجودي و انتقادات او به اين برهان مي‌‌‌‌پردازد.

Javadi Amoli is one of the Muslim Iranian thinkers who doesn’t accept any western and Islamic expressions of the ontological arguments and considers them as fallacious arguments. He, like the western critics of this argument, thinks that the actual existence can’t be inferred from the mere concept – even from the concept of GOD or necessary being. Javadi explains this criticism in terms of Islamic philosophy and believes that the main problem of the ontological argument is the confusion between primary essential predication and common technical predication. Moreover, his other criticism is that, if the arguments are valid, then the existence of Associate of GOD is concluded from its concept. Because it is supposed the Associate of GOD has all of the Divine features (such as necessity of existence, infinite perfection …) too. This paper surveys Javadi Amoli’s view on the ontological argument and his criticisms.
