بررسي مقايسه‌اي كاربرد فرهنگ‌هاي لغت در ترجمه فارسي به انگليسي

A Comparative Study on the Application of Dictionaries in Persian to English Translation

چكيده فرهنگ‌هاي لغت بعنوان ابزار قديمي ترجمه همواره بعنوان عاملي مهم در ارتقا و تسهيل ترجمه مد نظر بوده اند. در اين مقاله تلاش شده با رويكردي توصيفي-آزمايشي به بررسي تاثير فرهنگ لغات آنلاين بر كار مترجمان فارسي به انگليسي پرداخته شود. اين پژوهش شامل دو مرحله مجزا است. در مرحله اول پرسشنامه اي در پنج دانشگاه دولتي ايران و بين 100 مترجم توزيع شد تا ميزان استفاده مترجمان از فرهنگ‌هاي مختلف مشخص شود. درمرحله دوم، چهار گروه مترجم كه هر گروه از يك نوع خاصي از فرهنگ لغت استفاده مي‌كردند انتخاب شدند. متني مشتمل بر سه چكيده از مقالات فارسي انتخاب شد و از مترجمان خواسته شد تا آن را به انگليسي برگردانند و ترجمه هايشان از لحاظ سرعت و دقت در ترجمه عبارات و اصطلاحات مورد ارزيابي قرار گرفت. نتايج بدست آمده از مرحله اول پژوهش حاكي از آن بود كه بيشتر مترجمان شركت كننده در اين تحقيق از فرهنگ‌هاي لغت چاپي استفاده مي‌كردند. نتايج مرحله دوم پژوهش نيز نشان داد كه كاربران فرهنگ‌هاي لغت آنلاين دقيق تر و با سرعت بيشتري ترجمه‌هاي خود را انجام دادند. كليدواژه ها: فرهنگ لغت آنلاين، ترجمه، سرعت، دقت

Abstract: Dictionaries as old translation tools have always been considered as a determining factor in facilitating the translation process. This study, with a descriptive-experimental approach, aimed to examine the effects of online dictionaries on the work of Iranian translators. This study has two separate phases. In the opening phase of the project a questionnaire was given to 100 Iranian translators in five Iranian state universities to investigate the type of dictionaries they use while translating Persian articles into English. In the main phase of the study, four groups of translators with different types of dictionaries were selected and given a task of translating three Persian article abstracts, and their translations were assessed in terms of the accuracy of the words and expressions of the source text and the speed of the job. Results indicated that translators using online dictionaries rendered the texts more accurately and much faster than the other three groups. Translators using computer softwares occupied the second rank, hardcover dictionary users were the third, and mobile dictionary users, bringing up the rear, were the last group to finish the job.
