Aspects of Reason and Its Theoretical and Practical Functions in Imam Khomeini’s Thought

انسان، موجودي صاحب عقل است كه فرآورده‌هاي عقلاني او، در دو ساحتِ «نظر و عمل» رهگشاي طريق زندگي اويند. اين دو ساحت از ديرباز انديشمندان را به تفكّر واداشته است. ارسطو بر اين اساس، حكمت را به دو بخش نظري و عملي تقسيم كرده كه اين تقسيم بندي بر تقسيم عقل به نظري و عملي، مبتني است. نحوه ارتباط اين دو ساحت و استقلال يا وابستگي آنها به يكديگر و ميزان تاثير و تاثر آنها نسبت به يكديگر از اهداف اين پژوهش است. امام خميني از جمله كساني است كه به اين مبحث پرداخته است. وي اين ديدگاه را كه شان عقل نظري، «ادراك» و شان عقل عملي، «انجام كارهاي معقوله» باشد مورد انتقاد قرار مي‌دهد و اعتقاد دارد «عمل» در هر دو شانِ عقل، لازم است و علم و ادراك به تنهايي در عقل نظري كار ساز نيست. وي به نقش ايمان در اعتقادات و باورها توجّه دارد كه تنها از طريق علم حاصل نمي‌شود.

Man is a being, who possess reason, whose rational products guide him in “theory and practice” in his life. These two realms have preoccupied the thinkers since times immemorial. On this basis, Aristotle divided philosophy into two parts of practical and theoretical, which is based on classification of reason into practical and theoretical. The main objective of the present paper is to study the way of the interconnection of these two realms, their dependence or independence and their impacts on each other. Imam Khomeini has discussed this issue. He is critical of the idea that the function of theoretical reason is understanding and that of practical reason is doing thought about acts. He maintains that act is necessary in both the realms of reason and that knowledge and understanding alone is not helpful in theoretical reason. He pays attention to the role of faith in beliefs and convictions, which is not attainable through mere knowledge
