Evaluation of attitudes and performance of motorcyclists in Isfahan in relation to risky and safe behaviors and their relationship with maxillofacial traumas in 2011

چكيده مقدمه: هدف اين مطالعه، بررسي نگرش و عملكرد نسبت به رفتارهاي پرخطر و ايمن و ارتباط آن با آسيب‌هاي فك و صورت در موتور سواران شهر اصفهان در سال 1390 بود. مواد و روش‌ها: اين مطالعه مقطعي بر روي 385 موتور سوار كه به طور تصادفي از پنج ميدان پر تردد انتخاب گرديدند، انجام گرفت. اطلاعات از طريق مصاحبه جمع‌آوري شد كه شامل فاكتور‌هاي زمينه‌اي، سابقه تصادف و آسيب، نگرش در زمينه استفاده از كلاه ايمني و خطرات موتور سواري، عملكرد در زمينه استفاده از كلاه ايمني و تخلفات موتور سواري بودند. داده‌ها با نرم‌افزار SPSS نسخه 5/11، شاخص‌هاي توصيفي و آناليز 2? تحليل گرديد (05/0 = ?). يافته‌ها: نگرش موتور سواران در زمينه‌هاي مورد بررسي مثبت بود، اما تاثيري بر كاهش ميزان حوادث و آسيب‌هاي ايجاد شده و افزايش استفاده از كلاه ايمني نداشت. فقط 22 درصد افراد استفاده منظم از كلاه ايمني را گزارش كردند. گروه‌هاي سني بالاتر، متاهل، داراي فرزند و با تخلف كمتر، استفاده بيشتر از كلاه ايمني را گزارش كردند (05/0 > p value). مشاهده فردي كه در اثر تصادف دچار آسيب به سر شده بود، مهم‌ترين عامل براي شروع به استفاده از كلاه ايمني و گرما، تهويه نامناسب و محدوديت ديد، مهم‌ترين عوامل عدم استفاده از كلاه ايمني بودند. افراد با سابقه تخلفات بيشتر، حوادث و آسيب‌هاي بدني از جمله آسيب‌هاي سر و صورت بيشتري داشتند (001/0 > p value). نتيجه‌‌گيري: با وجود داشتن نگرش مثبت، تعداد كمي از موتور سواران از كلاه ايمني استفاده مي‌كنند. بررسي عوامل انگيزشي در استفاده از كلاه ايمني و نيز عوامل منفي تاثير‌گذار بر عدم استفاده از كلاه ايمني در برنامه‌ريزي‌هاي آموزشي و ارتقاي سلامت و ايمني ضروري است. كليد واژه‌ها: كلاه ايمني، آسيب، موتور سيكلت، نگرش، تصادفات، ايمني

Abstract Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate motorcyclists’ attitudes and performance in relation to high-risk and safe behaviors and their relationship with maxillofacial injuries in Isfahan, Iran in 2011. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted on 385 motorcyclists randomly selected from 5 high-traffic circuses in Isfahan. Data were collected through interviews and included background factors, history of accidents and injuries, motorcyclists’ attitude toward crash helmets and motorcycling risks, and breaking traffic rules. Data were analyzed with SPSS 11.5, using descriptive statistics and chi-squared test. Results: The motorcyclists had positive attitudes toward the factors evaluated; however, such attitudes had no effect on reducing accidents and injuries and increasing use of crash helmets. Only 22% of the subjects reported regular use of crash helmets. Older motorcyclists, married ones, those who had children, and those with lower rate of traffic offences reported greater use of crash helmets (p value < 0.005). Seeing someone involved in an accident, causing head injury, was the most important motivational factor for motorcyclists to start using crash helmets, whereas heat, poor ventilation, and limited visibility were the most important factors for not wearing crash helmets. Generally, motorcyclists who reported more traffic violations had more accidents and maxillofacial traumas. Conclusion: Despite positive attitudes, only a small number of motorcyclists use helmets. It is necessary to evaluate motivational factors involved in the use of crash helmets and negative factors precluding their use to promote health and safety.
