ابوسعيد سجزي و جامع شاهي

Abū Saʿīd Sījzī and his al-Jāmiʿ al-Shāhī

آنچه در باره زندگي و دوره فعاليت ابوسعيد سجزي، رياضي‌دان و منجم ايراني و مسلمان سده چهارم هجري، مي‌دانيم اطلاعات اندكي است كه از گزارش‌هاي ديگران و بعضي از آثار او به دست مي‌آيد. برخي از پژوهشگران با توجه به آثار رياضي سجزي و بعضي از نسخه‌هاي رياضي موجود به خط او، تاريخ تولدش را در حدود سال 330ق تخمين زده‌اند. از سجزي آثار متعددي در سه حوزه رياضي، نجوم و احكام نجوم بر جاي مانده است. با اين كه تعداد آثار احكامي سجزي در مقايسه با ديگر آثارش چشمگير است، اما تا كنون تحقيقات كمي روي آنها صورت گرفته است. جامع شاهي يكي از مهم‌ترين اين آثار است كه سجزي در بخش‌هايي از آن گزارش‌هايي از وقايع تاريخي و نجومي سده چهارم هجري ثبت كرده است. در خلال اين گزارش‌ها اطلاعاتي در باره فعاليت سجزي و شهر‌هاي محل اقامتش ديده مي‌شود. از ديگر آثار احكامي سجزي مجموعه‌هايي در دست است كه اغلب عنوان «جامع شاهي» براي آنها ثبت شده و با جامع شاهي خلط شده‌اند. اين مقاله مي‌كوشد تا به كمك اطلاعاتي كه سجزي در آثار خود آورده است تخمين دقيق‌تري از زندگي و دوره فعاليت او به دست دهد و نشان مي‌دهد كه مجموعه‌هاي رسايل احكامي سجزي يك اثر واحد نيستند و با رساله جامع شاهي تفاوت دارند.

All that we know about the life and times of al-Sijz?, the 10th century Iranian Muslim mathematician and astronomer, is limited to the small pieces of information provided by other authors’ accounts and some of his own works. On the basis of al-Sijz?’s mathematical works and the extant maunscripts written in his hand, some modern scholars have estimated his date of birth in about 942 ad. Numerous works of al-Sijz? are extant in three areas: mathematics, astronomy and astrology. Although there is a considerable number of astrological compositions among al-Sijz?’s works, little research has been done about them. One of the most important astrological works of al-Sijz? is al-J?mi?al-Sh?h?, in which the author mentions some historical and astronomical events of the 10th century. Nevertheless, there exist some other collections of al-Sijz?’s astrological works catalogued under the title “al-J?mi? al-Sh?h?” and often mistakenly considered as the same book as al-J?mi? al-Sh?h?. In this article we try to provide more accurate information about al-Sijz?’s life and period of activity and to show that these astrological collections are not a single work and are different from al-J?mi? al-Sh?h?.
