چكيده
و « خردگرا » برخي از محققان، مطه?ر بن طاهر م?قْد?سي (د. پس از 355 ه) مولف كتاب البد و التاريخ را
دانستهاند و برآ ناند كه البد كتابي است تاريخي- فلسفي، زيرا نمونه هاي خردگرايي در اين « معتزلي »
در استدلال هاي كلامي « عقل » كتاب از نظر ظاهري و كم?ي قابل توجه است؛ به علاوه مقدسي از واژه
چون اثبات مباحث نبوت و شريعت و در تحليل مضامين اخبار تاريخي فراوان استفاده كرده و هرجا كه
مناسب ديده، به آرا فلاسفه يوناني و بزرگان خردگراي معتزله استشهاد كرده است. در اين مقاله، پس
از بررسي مباحث معرفت شناسي، فلسفي و روش نقد اخبار او در كتاب مزبور، اين پرسش را مطرح مي -
سازد كه خردگرايي و استدلالهاي عقلاني مقدسي چه جايگاهي در نقد گزارش ها و اخبار تاريخي كتاب
دارد؟ سرانجام، بدين پاسخ دست يافته كه مقدسي برخلاف پندار عموم محققان پيوسته ميان دو جريان
عقل گرايان و ن صگرايان در ترديد و ترد?د است؛ از اين رو، به رغم تاكيدهاي مكرر بر عقلگرايي گزارش-
هاي تاريخي وي تفاوت بايسته اي با ديگر نوشتههاي روايي-تاريخي هم عصر خود ندارد.

Rationalism and Textualism in Al-Bad wa l- Tarikh

Some scholars have considered al-Makdis? (ca.355 H.), the author of
Al-Bad wa l- Tarikh, as a “rationalist” and a mu’tazili.That is because
of the examples of rationalism in Al-Bad are appearing significant and
bold. Al-Makdis? has used the term “rationale” in verbal deductions
such as proofs of prophecy and Sharia, analysis of historical reports,
and when seen fit, has quoted Greek philosophers and great
mu’tazilisscholars. After studying his methods of epistemology,
philosophy, and reviewing reports in the aforementioned book, the
present author has posed the question of where rational deductions of
al-Makdis?stand in reviewing historical reports. Finally, the author has
come to the conclusion that contrary to other scholars’ opinion, al-
Makdis? is unsure and insecure amid two currents of rationalism and
textualism. Therefore, in spite of frequent insistence on rationalistic
views, the historical reports of al-Makdis? are actually not different
from other historical-narrative texts of his time.
