نشان چليپا به لحاظ تاريخي و هنري يكي از نقوش ارزشمندي است كه هر چند اصالت آن را به سرزمين ايران نسبت مي دهند ، در بسياري از نقاط جهان و تمدن هاي باستاني كهن نيز ، اين نماد مشهود است. گردونه ي مهر نشانه اي است بس كهن كه زادگاه و ريشه هاي آن به وضوح مشخص نيست و در اكثر تمدن ها و فرهنگ ها ي باستاني خود را نمايانده است ؛ تصاويري كه از اين نشان بر روي سفالينه ها و آثار ديگر به دست آمده است مورد توجه بسياري از محققين بوده است . از نظر هنري نيز تكرار نشان چليپا بر روي آثار متنوعي كه از تمدن هاي مورد نظر به دست آمده حايز اهميت است . در اين تحقيق سعي بر آن است تا با بررسي اين نشان در آثار به دست آمده از تمدن هاي مورد نظر پيام هايي را كه چليپا مي تواند با خود به همراه داشته باشد ،كشف شود . فرض اين است كه آنها يك برداشت مشترك از چليپا داشته ا ند و به وسيله ي آن به يك مقصد مي رسيدند . اين برداشت مشترك ، يك رمز است وهدف اين مقاله رمزگشايي آن است. اين تحقيق از نوع تحليلي و مقايسه اي است و به روش كتابخانه اي انجام پذيرفته است . ابزارهاي گرد آوري اطلاعات تهيه ي فيش از منابع مكتوب و اينترنت بوده است .
