Reproduction of Hijab Patterns in Iran

موضوع اصلي اين پژوهش معطوف به بررسي و تجزيه و تحليل ابعاد و ويژگي‌هاي مرتبط با فرآيند جامعه‌پذيري حجاب و پوشش اسلامي بود. در اين پژوهش، با استفاده از مدل نظري عناصر چهارگانه فرآيند جامعه‌پذيري ميچنر و همكاران (1990) و ساير صاحب‌نظران معاصر تيوري جامعه‌پذيري (اونس و داويس، 2000؛ تايلور، 2003)، فرآيند جامعه‌پذيري حجاب از طريق سيستم آموزشي تجزيه و تحليل شد. بر همين اساس، مهم‌ترين الگوها و ويژگي‌هاي مرتبط با چگونگي بازنمايي حجاب و پوشش زنان در متون آموزشي مدارس ايران بر پايه روش تحليل محتوا بررسي شد. مطابق نتايج اين پژوهش، اگرچه الگوهاي كمابيش عمومي در زمينه چگونگي بازنمايي حجاب و پوشش زنان از طريق سيستم آموزشي وجود دارد، اما تجزيه و تحليل‌هاي تفصيلي اين پژوهش نشان مي‌دهد كه اين الگوهاي كلي به‌طور معناداري تابعي از دوره‌هاي تحصيلي و عنوان متون درسي است.

This paper examines the patterns associated with the socialization process of veiling of women in Iran. Using content analysis technique and socialization theory (Michener et al. 1990, Evans and Davis 2000, Tylor 2003), this paper focuses on the association between ‘educational institution and hijab socialization’ and explains the major patterns related to the representation of women’s veiling in the school education resources. The educational resources in the present study include the school-textbooks of the Islamic Republic of Iran in three levels: Primary, Intermediate, and High schools. In addition, the analyses of these educational resources are discussed in terms of ‘religious textbooks’ and ‘other textbooks’. This provides further opportunity to explore the existence and the extent of religious dominance in the educational materials. The preliminary results of this analysis show that there are some general patterns regarding the representation of women’s veiling in the educational resources. Further investigation, however, underlines that the patterns vary significantly by the main types of school-textbooks and educational levels.
