نظريه عدالت سندل بر اساس عضويت افراد در اجتماع‌ها شكل گرفته و هدفش ارزشمند شمردن خير عمومي است. دفاع سندل از خير عمومي، مستلزم ارزشمند شمردن اجتماع‌ها و فرهنگ‌هاي مختلف موجود در آنهاست كه نقش تقويم‌بخش در هويت فرد دارند. خير مورد نظر سندل در درون اجتماع و زمينه‌هاي فرهنگي به‌دست مي آيد. آموزه عضويت در اجتماع‌ها كه نقطه كانوني نظريه عدالت سندل است داراي دلالت فرهنگي است. به اين دليل كه شيوه‌هاي عضويت در اجتماع‌ها را رويكردهاي فرهنگي موجود در اجتماع، مشخص و صورت‌بندي مي‌كند. بخشي از اجتماع، فرهنگ و در واقع، فرهنگ‌هاي مختلفي است كه در درون آن وجود دارد. خود مورد نظر سندل، خودي روايت‌گونه است كه از طريق قرار گرفتن در يك زمينه تاريخي و فرهنگي خاص، تفسير مي‌شود. آرا سندل درباره عدالت تاثير قابل ملاحظه‌اي در فلسفه اخلاقي و سياسي معاصر داشته است. يكي از اين تاثيرها، رويكرد به اجتماع و فرهنگ است كه به‌ويژه از سوي فلاسفه سياسي ليبرال مورد غفلت قرار گرفته بود.

Michael Sandel,as an well-known communitarian theorist believe that self can not be conceive without cultural and social contexts which he or she is a member of them.He emphasize on that concept of self which accuqre it,s identity from it,s membership in different communities and cultures.Sandel believe that ethical aims and goals are concern to public goods ,not to individual ritghts.Sandelian justice has been baisd on membership in communities and cultures.The membership idea which is the central poit of sandel theory of justice has cultural implication.Because method of membership in communities determine and formulate by the cultural approaches in communities.Different cultures is a part of the society.Sandelian self is a narrative one which has been interpretated by particular historical and cultural context which is a part of it.He believe that public good must determine the rights and defend the priority of good from rights.
