The importance of Information Structure in Translation

اين مقاله به بحث درباره تفاوتها و تشابهات ساخت اطلاعاتي جمله در انگليسي و فارسي اختصاص دارد. نويسنده از رهگذر بحث درباره اين تفاوتها و تشابهات كوشيده است تا از چگونگي و نيز اهميت انتقال ساخت اطلاعي در ترجمه (از انگليسي به فارسي و بالعكس) سخن گويد.

Information Structure is the division of sentence to old and new information. This aspect of sentence structure is not discussed in translation literature. This paper tries to define Information Structure and its subdivisions such as Ground and Focus, focusing on English unmarked and mainly marked structures like passive, clefts, pseudo-clefts and inversion. Then two experiments are done to observe the ability of English as a Second Language (ESL) students in translating the marked sentences. The results of the experiments are provided, with some suggestions in changing the translation curricula.
