Relationship between Attachment Style and Empathy in Nursing Students

زمينه و هدف: سبك هاي دلبستگي پرستاران به عنوان مراقبان و اعضا تيم هاي مراقبت پزشكي،وهمدلي به عنوان ظرفيتي اساسي كه در مديريت روابط، حمايت از فعاليت هاي اجتماعي و بينش به كيفيت روابط پرستار- بيمار سهيم است، موضوعات ارزشمندي براي مطالعه مي باشند. پژوهش حاضر با هدف بررسي رابطه سبك هاي دلبستگي با همدلي در دانشجويان پرستاري ساكن در خوابگاه دانشجويان دانشگاه علوم پزشكي تهران انجام شد. روش بررسي: اين مطالعه در مورد 260 دانشجو (130 پسر، 130 دختر) انجام گرفت. از شركت كنندگان خواسته شد تا پرسشنامه سبك هاي دلبستگي و شاخص واكنش پذيري بين فردي را تكميل كنند. داده ها پس از جمع اوري با اسفاده از نرم افزار آماري SPSS نگارش 18 مورد تجزيه و تحليل قرار گرفت. به منظور بررسي رابطه بين متغير ها، ضريب همبستگي پيرسون و تحليل رگرسيون مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. يافته ها: نتايج پژوهش نشان داد كه سبك دلبستگي ايمن با همدلي همبستگي مثبت معنادار دارد و سبك دلبستگي ناايمن با همدلي همبستگي منفي معنادار داشته اند (50/0 > P). نتايج تحليل رگرسيون نشان داد كه دلبستگي ايمن، 67% واريانس همدلي را توضيح مي دهد در حاليكه شيوه دلبستگي اضطرابي 61% و شيوه دلبستگي اجتنابي 54% واريانس همدلي را تبيين مي نمايد (001/0= P). نتيجه گيري كلي: ارزيابي و شناخت سبك هاي دلبستگي پرستاران و ارتباط سبك هاي دلبستگي با همدلي، مي تواند رهنمودهاي ارزشمندي را در زمينه تامين بهداشت رواني براي دانشجويان پرستاري به همراه داشته باشد.

Background & Aims: Attachment styles of nurses as caregivers and members of healthcare teams and empathy as individualsʹ basic capacity which contributes to the management of relationships, the supporting of communal activities, and insight to the quality of nurse-patient relationship; are therefore considered to be an important topic worth studying. This study examined the relationship between attachment styles and empathy in nursing students living in dormitories of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Material & Method: A sample of 260 university students (130 males, 130 females) participated in this study. All participants completed the Attachment Style Questionnaire (ASQ), and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI). Data was collected and analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis using SPSS (v.18) Results: The results showed that secure and insecure attachment styles had significant positive and negative correlation with empathy, respectively. The results of regression analysis revealed that secure attachment style is shown to be the predicting 67% of the variance of empathy variable; whereas anxiety attachment styles is shown to be the predicting 61% and avoidant attachment styles is shown to be the predicting 54% of the variance of empathy variable. Conclusion: Assessing attachment styles and relationship of attachment styles with empathy; can be valuable guidelines in order to provide mental health for nursing students. The meaning and limitation of this study and the suggestion for the further study are discussed.
