Nonnumerical Unity of the Essence of the Truth or Indefiniteness of the Essence

بحث توحيد ذات حق در متون ديني ، كلامي و فلسفي به تفصيل مطرح شده است . انديشمندان در شرح معناي توحيد ، معاني مختلفي را مطرح كرده اند. يك معناي مشهور وحدت ذات حق، اين است كه خداوند واحد است نه كثير. به عبارت ديگر يك خداوند وجود دارد و خدايان متعدد وجود ندارد. اين معنا از وحدت را ، وحدت عددي مي نامند. در مقابل وحدت عددي ، وحدت غيرعددي يا وحدت حقه قرار دارد كه منظور از آن بيكرانگي يا لاحدي ذات حق است. در اين معنا از وحدت ، تحقق كثرت و حتي فرض آن محال است زيرا بيكرانگي عين بي همتايي است ومعناي حقيقي توحيد همان وحدت حقه حقيقيه است.

Unity of the Essence of the Truth has been discussed in detail in religious texts and theology and philosophy literature. Scholars have offered variousexplanations in discussing the meaning of unity. One distinguished sense of unity of the Essence ofthe Truth is that God is single, but not numerous. In other words, there is only one God and there are not multiple Gods. This sense of unity is termed numerical unity. In contrast to numerical unity isnonnumerical unity or true unity which denotes the indefiniteness of the Essence of the Truth. In this sense of unity, fulfillment of plurality and even its assumption is impossible sinceindefiniteness is identical with uniquenessand the real meaning of unity istrueunity.
