Surveying and Comparing Two Images in the Blind Owl and Tales of the Parrot

بوف كور صادق هدایت در نگاه اول بیش‌تر به سبك و سیاق غربی می‌ماند تا اسلوب‌های ادبی شرقی و ایرانی. نقدهایی هم كه بر این اثر نوشته شده بیش‌تر ناظر بر چنین تأثر‌ها و شباهت‌هایی است؛ اما در زمان‌های اخیر، به اثرپذیری آن از فرهنگ ایران بیش‌تر توجه شده است. هنگام صحبت از تأثیر ادبیات قدیم در این اثر، بیش از هر چیز نام خیام برده می‌شود و بعد ویس و رامین، و غالباً در همین جا متوقف می‌مانند؛ شاید به این دلیل كه هدایت خود دربارة این دو موضوع كتاب و مقاله نوشته است. این حقیقت كه صادق هدایتِ داستان‌نویس میراث داستانی ادبیات فارسی را مطالعه كرده است و احیاناً از آن متأثر شده است، كاملاً پذیرفتنی است. در مقالۀ حاضر سعی شده است ثابت شود كه صادق هدایت در خلق بوف كور از طوطی‌نامه متأثر شده و به‌ویژه ایدۀ تصویر «پیرمرد و دختر» را از یكی از افسانه‌های طوطی‌نامه اقتباس كرده است.

Sādeq Hedāyat’s the Blind Owl may at first be seen as a work having more tendency towards occidental styles rather than oriental ones. The previously written criticisms mainly put forward such similarities and influences, while the recent onesʹ considerations have been paid to the traces of the influences of Iranian culture. It seems that since some books and articles about Khayyām and Vis o Rāmin have been written by Hedāyat, the discussions in the field often circulate about these two names, and, of course, usually discontinue there. The fact that as a story writer, Hedāyat has scrutinized and investigated the heritages of Persian literature and might be influenced by them is completely assumable. This article attempts to confirm that Hedāyat, in creating his The Blind Owl, has been influenced by Tūtīnāmeh (Tales of the Parrot); especially the very image of ‘the old man and the girl’ has been extracted from one of the anecdotes of Tūtīnāmeh.
