ارزيابي دانش، نگرش و مهارت دانشجويان سال آخر دندانپزشكي دانشگاه‌هاي علوم پزشكي تهران و شهيد بهشتي در زمينه مشاوره ترك دخانيات

Knowledge, attitudes, and skills of dental students at Tehran and Shahid Beheshti dental schools towards tobacco cessation counseling

  زمينه و هدف: :مصرف دخانيات موجب مرگ سالانه 5 ميليون نفر در جهان می‌شود كه اين رقم در ايران طبق آمار وزارت بهداشت به 70 هزار نفر می‌رسد. با توجه به اينكه اكثريت مردم به طور مرتب به دندانپزشكان مراجعه می‌كنند ، می‌توان از اين فرصت مناسب برای ارايه مشاوره‌های ترك دخانيات استفاده كرد. مطالعه حاضر با هدف بررسی دانش، نگرش و مهارت دانشجويان سال آخر دندانپزشكی دانشگاه‌های علوم پزشكی تهران و شهيد بهشتی در خصوص كنترل دخانيات در مطب دندانپزشكی انجام شد.   روش بررسی: در اين مطالعه توصيفی- تحليلی، جامعه مورد بررسی دانشجويان سال آخر دندانپزشكی دانشگاه علوم پزشكی تهران و شهيد بهشتی بود و روش نمونه‌گيری در اين مطالعه به روش سرشماری بود و از پرسشنامه برای جمع‌آوری داده‌ها استفاده شد. پرسشنامه به تك تك دانشجويان شركت كننده داده شد (93 نفر) كه طی آن دانش، نگرش و مهارت دانشجويان دندانپزشكی بررسی گرديد. جهت تحليل نتايج از آزمون T-test استفاده گرديد.   يافته‌ها: در مجموع 93 دانشجو در اين مطالعه شركت كرده بودند (ميزان پاسخ دهی 100%) ميانگين نمره دانش در دو دانشكده دندانپزشكی دانشگاه تهران و شهيد بهشتی (به ترتيب 5/17و 4/18، 09/0 P= )، و همچنين نگرش (به ترتيب 5/33 و 1/33، 80/0 P= ) با هم تفاوت معنی‌دار نداشت، اما در بخش مهارت(به ترتيب: 9/11 و 6/16، 002/0 P= ) تفاوت نمره معنی‌دار بود.   نتيجه‌گيری: عليرغم نگرش نسبتاً خوب دانشجويان دندانپزشكی در زمينه مشاوره ترك دخانيات، دانش و مهارت آنان در اين زمينه دچار ضعف است. بايد در دانشكده‌های دندانپزشكی برنامه‌های آموزشی مناسب در اين زمينه اجرا شود.

    Background and Aims: Tobacco kills 5 million people worldwide annually, according to the Health Ministry reaches this number is about 70,000 people a year in Iran. Dental professionals are in a unique position to promote smoking cessation due to the opportunity for regular interaction with their patients. The aim of this study was to investigate knowledge, attitudes, and skills of dental students at Tehran and Shahid Beheshti dental schools towards tobacco cessation counseling in dental office.   Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the target group was dental students at Tehran and Shahid Beheshti dental schools, and the sampling method was census. A questionnaire on the knowledge, attitudes, and skills towards tobacco cessation counseling in dental practice was administered to the students (n=93). Data were analyzed using T-test.   Results: The response rate was 100% (93 students participate in this program and all of them filled the questionnaire). The average score of knowledge at Tehran and Shahid Beheshti dental schools was 17.5 and 18.4, respectively (P=0.09), the average score of attitudes was 33.5 and 33.1, respectively (P=0.80). There were no significant differences between the two dental schools in these parts. The average score of skill was 11.9 and 16.6, respectively. The differences between the students of two dental schools in skill were significant (P=0.002).   Conclusion: Although the attitude of dental students at Tehran and Shahid Beheshti schools towards tobacco cessation counseling seemed to be fair, some deficiencies existed in their knowledge and skill. Dental education programs should be implemented properly in this field.
