شيخ فريد الدين عطار، پير نيشابور، شاعري عارف و عارفي شاعر و شوريده ايي معني آفرين است؛ البته مهارت او تنها به فن گويندگي خلاصه نمي شود؛ چرا كه وي در ميدان نويسندگي نيز گامي بس استوار دارد. عظمت انديشه عطار تا بدان جاست كه پرده هايي از حقيقت وجود آدمي بر مي دارد و خواننده را از خويشتنِ خويش رها مي كند و به افق بي كران انديشه هاي الهي مي-كشاند. عطار صاحب آثاري است كه اغلب آنها نتيجه ژرف نگري هاي عرفاني و ادبي اوست كه از آن جمله است: مثنوي «الهي نامه». اين سروده كه عطار خود آن را «گنج الهي» معرفي مي نمايد و سخنانش را درآن «توحيد پاك» مي داند، منظومه اي است روحاني و عرفاني و در عين حال رمزي، كه در برگيرنده حكايات و قصه هاي فراواني است و از آن جايي كه در سخنان عطار همواره احوال روح را بايد جست، اين اثر نيز نمايان گر جدال بي امان روح است، روحي كه طاير عالم ملكوت است و تعلق بدين جهان خاكي ندارد و عطار درصدد آن است كه با همت والاي خويش اين وديعه افلاكي را پاك و بي آلايش به موطن حقيقي خود برساند؛ پس روح كه در اين منظومه نقش خليفه و صاحب شش فرزند است با هر عامل بازدارنده اي به مبارزه مي پردازد.

Sheikh Farid Aldin Attar, Neyshabourʹs master, is considered a Sufi poet, a mystic poet and a signification creator. His rhetoric canʹt be accounted as his mere skill, he is persistence in writing should also be thought of. The significance of his thoughts is heightened in that they reveal the authentic instincts of human beings and the reader is freed from himself and he is attracted to definitive horizons of Godʹs thoughts. Attarʹs works release his contemplations on mysticism and literature as in Elahi Nameh. This book, in his words, a "Devine Treasure" and his words are "Pure Monotheism" is poem which reflects spiritual and mystical along with mysterious points. This collection is replete with stories and fables. Since attarʹs works mainly converse about soul, this book is also highlighting the relentless struggle of soul, the soul which belongs to the divine world and not the earth. Attar makes all attempts to return this divine gift safely to its real land. Therefore; soul plays the role of a Caliph with six children. This Caliph fights against any deterrents such as lust, greed, magnanimity, etc since they are born by self and treated as their children and they prevent his travel from temporal world to the divine world.
